Cyclone Yaas: Indian Navy continues relief ops in storm-hit areas of Odisha

  • Indian Navy is continuing with the rescue & relief operations in cyclone-hit Odisha. As per Navy, a disaster relief team was deployed at Sadar block of Balasore district. The naval team has set up a community kitchen & is clearing trees that fell by winds. Another Naval Relief team is scheduled to proceed for Talasari to conduct relief ops. Four naval ships with relief material have already reached Dhamra anchorage. The helicopters from the ships were launched to augment the efforts at Balasore. They supplied 100 prepared food material packets and 300 dry provision packets. According to IMD, cyclone Yaas has weakened after wreaking havoc in Odisha, Bengal. The cyclone made landfall in Odisha on Wednesday & raged over Bengal, Jharkhand. Severe flooding and significant damage have been witnessed in many parts.
