US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has met the Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-Wen in Taipei. The Taiwanese President thanked Pelosi for her support of democratic values and said she was committed to working with the US over security in the Taiwan Straits. While Pelosi said that she is honoured to be referred to as a 'good friend of Taiwan'. The US House Speaker also talked about the three main purposes behind her visit. Nancy Pelosi was also given the order of propitious clouds cordon by Taiwanese President for her role in promoting relations between Taiwan and the US. Before this, the US House Speaker also visit the Taiwanese parliament where she called the island nation 'one of the freest societies in the world'.
