Fourth wave fears: 1000% rise in Mumbai's daily new Covid cases from May 17

• The maximum city has the maximum fourth Covid wave fears. This scare has been triggered by the 1,000% increase in daily new COVID-19 cases in Mumbai since May 17. Mumbai recorded 158 daily cases while the total active caseload stood at 932 on May 17 which was the last time active caseload remained below 1,000. Since then, total active cases have crossed the 10,000-mark for the first time in five months. The city has already geared up for a possible fourth wave, with the civic body Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation appealing people to wear a mask and follow all safety protocol.
