'He's a flight risk': Fugitive Mehul Choksi denied bail by Dominican high court

- Fugitive diamontaire Mehul Choksi has been denied bail by the high court in Dominica. The top court refused Choksi to grant bail on the grounds that he is a flight risk. Choksi has alleged that he was abducted from Antigua by Indian & Antiguan police. Choksi said he was then taken to Dominica in a vessel, in charges denied by Antiguan PM. Choksi's Counsel, while arguing for bail, cited medical grounds & not at flight risk. The fugitive jeweller is wanted in India over a ₹13,500 crore Punjab National Bank fraud. Currently, he has got interim relief from immediate repatriation to India by Dominican court. Choksi had gone missing from Antigua & Barbuda on May 23 & was soon detained in Dominica. Police charged Choksi with illegal entry after he allegedly escaped from Antigua.
