- The Kolhapur district has been recording the highest daily cases in Maharashtra, emerging as a district of concern. Health officials attribute the daily rise in cases to a late second wave. While most districts began to record a surge between February and March, Kolhapur’s surge began in April this year. The district has achieved 72% vaccination coverage in the population above 45 years, with at least one dose. But the district's vaccination coverage in the 18 to 44 age group is the lowest at 2.4%. The young and unvaccinated are now driving up the cases in Kolhapur .
