G7 countries have asked India to join a Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). It aims to help finance the rapid deployment of clean energy projects in India and possibly reduce the country’s dependence on coal. India has so far not responded to the offer. An official aware of the matter said that the External Affairs Ministry is coordinating inter-ministerial consultations and a likely decision will be based on the government’s stand on these matters.
