India responds to China's 'NATO' barb at Quad ahead of PM Modi's US trip

India and Australia have rebuffed Chinese criticism of QUAD as 'Asian Nato' as the forum is all set to hold a in-person meeting of the countries' four leaders in United States on September 24. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that Chinese criticism is misrepresentation of the facts and asserted that the Quad is focused on non-military issues, unlike NATO. His views were echoed by Australian foreign minister who said that QUAD members are champions of ASEAN centrality.
