India to get its 1st semiconductor plant; Vedanta-Foxconn to invest ₹1.5 lakh cr

• Finally, India is all set to get its first ever semiconductor plant. The country's first chip factory will be built in Gujarat's Ahmedabad. Mining conglomerate Vedanta and Taiwanese electronics manufacturing giant Foxconn will invest ₹ 1.54 lakh crore. The plants will be set up on a 1000-acre land in Ahmedabad. Vedanta and Foxconn will build a semiconductor fabrication unit, a display fabrication unit & a semiconductor assembling and testing unit. The plant will start production in two years, said Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal after signing a 60:40 joint venture with Foxconn. Watch this report to know more.
