Former Australian senator hailed India after the Australian parliament passed a free trade agreement with India. Lisa Singh called India "unstoppable" as the deal aims to reduce its trade dependency on China. She wrote in the Sunday Morning Herald that the FTA had been in the works for over ten years and that its importance cannot be overstated. She said that Australia was hit hard by China's economic sanctions on $20 billion worth of its goods.
