The Union Health Ministry has taken note of the alleged deaths of 18 Uzbekistan kids after consuming made-in-India cough syrup. Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has been in touch with Uzbekistan's national drugs regulator since December 27. He also informed them that the cough syrup samples had been sent for testing and that action would be taken once the results were received. Meanwhile, the Noida-based Marion Biotech Pharma company has stopped production of the cough syrup.
