Priyanka Gandhi’s stinging attack on Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma; ‘There are two kinds of leaders…’

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday launched a sharp attack on Himanta Biswa Sarma, accusing the Assam Chief Minister of being “rattled” by Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi amid the ongoing controversy over alleged “Pakistan links.” Speaking to reporters in Guwahati, Priyanka Gandhi said politics has “two types of leaders” — those who practise positive politics and those who rely on polarisation and personal attacks. She alleged that the repeated targeting of Gogoi and his family shows nervousness on the part of the ruling side. “The way Gaurav ji and his family are being targeted proves that this kind of politics is wrong. I think the people of Assam know that the other side is rattled by him. It is like a badge of honour,” she said. She also stressed that families and children should not be dragged into political battles. The remarks come after Sarma alleged that Gogoi and his wife had links with Pakistani national Ali Tauqeer Sheikh and announced that evidence had been handed over to central agencies, with a Special Investigation Team probe underway. Priyanka countered that the state government should focus on jobs, youth welfare and corruption issues instead of personal attacks.
