Putin moves to deprive EU of gas by drastically cutting supply amid sanctions

- Russian President Vladimir Putin has weaponized gas exports to pressure the European Union into reducing its sanctions over the war in Ukraine. The Russian state-controlled energy company Gazprom has announced a drastic cut to gas deliveries through its main pipeline to Europe from July 27, prompting Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky to accuse Moscow of waging a “gas war”. This is a fresh blow for the West which is already struggling to cope up with the reduced gas supply from Russia in the last few months.
