At the latest Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar issued a strong warning on terrorism, declaring that there must be “zero tolerance” and affirming that nations facing terror attacks have the right to defend themselves. Jaishankar, joined by Australia’s Penny Wong, Japan’s Toshimitsu Motegi, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, said the Quad remains committed to a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific, with growing cooperation in maritime security, critical minerals, energy resilience, and regional infrastructure. In a major announcement, Marco Rubio unveiled the launch of the Indo-Pacific Maritime Surveillance Collaboration Initiative, aimed at strengthening information-sharing and maritime domain awareness across the region. He also announced a new Quad Ports of the Future Partnership, beginning with a pilot port infrastructure project in Fiji.
