‘Right to life above religion’: SC tells UP govt to reconsider Kanwar decision

In a big setback to the Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government, the Supreme Court of India, asked the govt to reconsider its decision of allowing annual pilgrimage of Knwar Yatra. The Union government too filed an affidavit in the SC and asked states to stop the movements of the Kanwariyas and make necessary arrangements for them to offer Gangajal or the holy water of ganges in their nearby Shiv temples. Usually, devotees embark on an annual pilgrimage to the city of Haridwar in Uttarakhand but due to Covid pandemic, it has been cancelled this year. Watch the full video for more details.
