Stubble burning begins in Punjab, Haryana; Delhi set for smog season I HT Ground Report

The farmers of Punjab and Haryana have begun to set their paddy fields on fire after harvesting. Farmers said that machines provided by the government are not sufficient for stubble management and are also costly to operate. The impact of it has already begun to show on Delhi's air quality. The AQI of Delhi-NCR is in the poor category and will only get worse in the coming days. Hindustan Times's Climate and Environment reporter Jayashree Nandi visited some of the villages in Haryana and Punjab to check what's the situation on the ground.
