Taliban targets India, stops export, import; dry fruit prices rise | Afghanistan

• Taliban have stopped imports & exports with India after taking over Afghanistan. Federation of Indian Export Organisation (FIEO) DG, Dr Ajay Sahai said Taliban have stopped movement of cargo through transit routes of Pakistan. The Islamist group entered Kabul & took over the war-torn country on August 15. India has long-standing relations with Afghanistan, especially in trade. The country also has a large investment in the neighbouring nation. Indian export profile includes sugar, pharmaceuticals, apparel, tea, coffee, spices, etc. Imports are related & largely dependent on dry fruits, India also imports gum & onions. FIEO said that dry fruit prices may go up in coming days due to turmoil in Afghanistan. Dry fruit markets in Delhi have already started witnessing an increase in the prices.
