- A gurdwara in New Mahavir Nagar in west Delhi sheltered 44 evacuees from Afghanistan. These 44 Sikhs were among the 78 people evacuated after Kabul fell to the Taliban last month. Of the 44 people, 32 will be adopted by Sobti Foundation of a New York-based philanthropist. A few people have families in Punjab and they have left for their respective places. Earlier, the 78 were discharged from ITBP's facility in south west Delhi's Chhawla area. The evacuees were kept at the facility due to the 14-day mandatory quarantine rule in place in view of Covid.
