Watch: NSG commandos, Tamil Nadu Police carry out counter-terrorism drill

• NSG commandos and Tamil Nadu police force conducted a counter-terrorism drill. The security drill was conducted at Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai district. More than 150 NSG personnel were engaged in the security exercise. They demonstrated security measures to counter terrorist attacks and protect the public. The drill is generally conducted annually by the NSG in highly protected areas. The security rehearsal began at 10 pm and continued till 2 am. NSG was raised as a federal contingency force in 1984 to undertake specialist operations. NSG is equipped for counterterrorism operations, hostage rescue, and anti-hijack operations. Popularly known as ‘black cat’ commandos, NSG personnel also guard VVIPs.
