Hong Kong Open badminton: PV Sindhu loses, Lee Chong Wei clinches title
Updated on Nov 27, 2017 12:00 pm IST
PV Sindhu's quest for her maiden Hong Kong Open Superseries badminton title was dashed as she suffered an 18-21, 18-21 loss to Chinese Taipei's top seed Tai Tzu Ying. This was Tai's eighth win against Sindhu in 11 meetings and fourth on the trot. Sindhu was bidding to become the third Indian shuttler to win the Hong Kong Open title after Prakash Padukone in 1982 and Saina Nehwal in 2010. Lee Chong Wei claimed his second Super Series title in the men's singles final. The 35-year-old former World No 1, who has suffered a dip in form since the World Championships in August, downed Olympic champion Chen Long of China 21-14, 21-19 at the Hong Kong Coliseum in Kowloon (Video credit: SNTV).
