Indian boxer Preeti Pawar scripted history by winning the gold medal in the women's 54kg category at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, becoming one of India's first boxing gold medallists at the event. Speaking after her triumph, an emotional Preeti said she was overjoyed to win India's first gold medal in boxing at the Games and described it as "just the beginning." She expressed confidence that the rest of the Indian boxing contingent would also give their best and bring home more medals.
