Raghav Chadha’s viral speech: ‘If voters can hire, they should be able to fire’ | Rajya Sabha
Published on Feb 12, 2026 01:15 pm IST
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has called for the introduction of a “Right to Recall” mechanism in India, enabling voters to remove non-performing MPs and MLAs before their five-year term ends. Speaking during Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha, Chadha argued that the current electoral system lacks accountability and performance evaluation. Highlighting what he termed a flaw in Indian democracy, he said leaders seek public support before elections but become inaccessible afterward. Chadha stressed that in a fast-paced era, a five-year term is too long if the wrong candidate is elected, as it can negatively impact lakhs of citizens and entire regions.
