‘Risk for Modi govt’: U.S official warns India against Russian oil imports rise

- The United States has now warned India against any sharp rise in Russian oil imports amid war with Ukraine, A U.S state department spokesperson, who wasn't named in reports, has claimed that any increase in the current oil imports by India and others may pose a great risk. The top U.S official refused to give clarification on what he implied by saying risk. India is world's third largest oil importer and consumer and its imports of Russian oil have drastically increased after the Russian invasion of Ukraine on Feb 24 this year. India has purchased at least 13 million barrels of Russian oil since Feb 24, compared with nearly 16 million barrels in all of 2021. Watch this video for more details.
