Ukraine’s sea drones have struck the Gambian‑flagged oil tankers Kairos and Virat inside Türkiye’s exclusive economic zone in the Black Sea, setting one vessel ablaze off Kocaeli province as both ships sailed empty toward Russia’s Novorossiysk oil terminal and were described by Western data as part of Moscow’s sanctions‑busting “shadow fleet.” Turkish officials evacuated the crews and warned that the drone attacks endangered navigation, lives, property and the marine environment, while also confirming talks with all sides to prevent further escalation in the Black Sea.
