Electing to bat first India lost their two early wickets, Wasim Jaffer and VVS Laxman against Victoria in the warm-up match at the Junction Oval in Melbourne, on December 20. Aaron Finch off Allan Brett Wise caught at Jaffer, who opened India innings with Rahul Dravid, mid off in the second over. Victoria are also playing without their regular captain Brad Hodge, whose back problem did not improve enough, with David Hussey taking over the leadership.
