Even after worldwide fame as fighter and humanitarian, Muhammad Ali never forgot his hometown roots in Kentucky, United States.

He chose his hometown, Louisville, as the place for one of his lasting legacies: the Muhammad Ali Center, which promotes his humanitarian ideals and showcases his remarkable boxing career.

In a funeral he planned years ago, Muhammad Ali will buried on Friday in Louisville.

A procession will carry the body of the 74-year-old boxing great down an avenue that bears his name.
