Taiwan makes big move amid raging China tensions, distributes this handbook to all households

Taiwan will begin distributing millions of civil defence handbooks to households across the island this week. The move comes amid rising tensions with China. The handbook, revealed in September, contains step-by-step instructions on what to do in emergencies, including during air raids, missile strikes, or even encounters with enemy soldiers. Citizens are urged to treat any claims of Taiwan’s surrender as false, and to rely only on official channels. The Ministry of National Defense says more than 9.8 million homes will receive the handbook, with English and other international-language versions to follow. Beijing continues to claim Taiwan as its territory and has not ruled out using force to seize it. Taipei rejects those claims, insisting the island’s future can only be decided by its people.
