The White House is seeking a record defense budget of about $1.5 trillion for fiscal year 2027, marking a dramatic expansion in military spending as the U.S. remains at war with Iran. ABC News reported that the request is $445 billion higher than 2026, a 42% increase, while the same plan would cut non-defense spending by $73 billion, or 10 percent.
