Ukraine's bold peace gambit: Zelensky pledges support for US peace plan but with strict conditions

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signaled openness to backing U.S.-led peace proposals as U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly pushes for a June deadline to end the war with Russia. In remarks to The Atlantic, Zelensky said Ukraine is “ready for elections” and even a referendum on any peace deal — but only after a ceasefire and firm security guarantees are secured. While expressing support for diplomatic momentum, Zelensky insisted Kyiv would not accept a “bad deal” or hold wartime elections without safeguards.
