Watch: Nikki Haley invokes Indian roots as Trump looks to counter Kamala Harris
Former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley spoke at the Republican party convention and backed Donald Trump to be reelected as President of the US. Haley also invoked her Indian roots while speaking the issue of racism and said that America is not a racist country. She said that this issue was personal to her as she is a proud daughter of Indian immigrants. Haley accused the Democratic Party of turning a blind eye to riots and said that all Americans value black lives. 'The black cops who've been shot in the line of duty - they matter. The black small business owners who've watched their life's work go up in flames - they matter,' she said. She narrated stories about her parents' initial days in the US and said that while they faced discrimination, they never gave into hate and grievance. Haley added that while US is not a perfect country, the principles Americans hold dear are perfect and only President Trump can preserve the principles of the nation.
