US Elections 2020: Watch Kamala Harris expresses gratitude to Indian mother

US vice-president elect Kamala Harris remembered her mother during her victory speech. She said that her mother came to the US at an age of 19 and believed in the ideals of the country of possibilities. 'I'm grateful to the woman most responsible for my presence here today, my mother, Shyamala Gopalan Harris. When she came here from India at the age of 19, she maybe didn't imagine this moment. But she believed so deeply in America where moment like this is possible,' Kamala Harris said. 'I am thinking about her and generations of women, black women, Asian, White, Latina, Native American women who throughout our nation's history have paved the way for this moment tonight,' she added. Harris also said that while she may be the first woman to have been elected vice-president, she will not be the last to be elected to the office. Born to a Jamaican father and an Indian mother, Harris is a former attorney general of California. Watch the full video for all the details.
