A NATO fighter jet was hit in Saudi Arabia: Is Middle East war dragging Europe in?

An Italian Eurofighter F-2000 was reportedly hit during an attack on King Fahd Air Base in Taif, Saudi Arabia, on September 17. Italy’s Defense Minister Guido Crosetto confirmed that the aircraft was damaged while Italian personnel remained unharmed. The base has faced several attacks as regional tensions continue to escalate. Italian forces deployed at Taif are part of Operation Inherent Resolve and include Eurofighters, surveillance aircraft, airborne early warning and command-support capabilities, as well as C-130J and KC-130J transport aircraft. Italy is now reassessing its military mission and security measures amid growing concerns over attacks targeting foreign forces across the Gulf.
