Biden revokes Trump-era bans on TikTok, WeChat; orders to shield US information

- US President Joe Biden withdrew a series of Donald Trump-era executive orders. Signing an executive order, Biden revoked bans on Chinese applications TikTok and WeChat. Biden signed another order to protect US information technology and communications supply chains from threats. The order takes the place of a series of EOs brought in by former President Trump in 2020. The Biden administration earlier this week banned 59 Chinese military firms from acquiring US investors and investments. On Tuesday, the White House had said it will fight any ‘unfair foreign competition' that hurts US supply chains. The US Senate had also voted to approve a $200 Billion bill to boost US tech firms to compete against China.
