China's mystery moves: Xi chooses 3rd new general in 9 months for India border

Chinese President Xi Jinping has promoted Wang Haijiang, a senior People’s Liberation Army (PLA) officer in-charge of the Xinjiang military region, as a general and head of the crucial Western Theatre Command (WTC), which oversees the disputed India-China border. The status of General Xu Qiling, who was promoted as WTC chief in July, wasn’t immediately clear. For newly promoted general Wang Haijiang, the rise through the ranks in China’s military has been rapid. The new change comes at a time when India and China are locked in a standoff along the Line of Control. Watch this report for more.
