Citing terrorism, India says time not ripe for SAARC summit in Pakistan

Pakistan is moving to host the South Asian Association for Regional Coorperation (SAARC) Summit, but India doesn't feel the atmosphere is conducive for it. Pakistan has been making efforts to host the summit since November 2016 however in September that year, India, Afghanistan, Bhutan and Bangladesh informed the SAARC secretariat they would be unable to attend, citing similar reasons. India maintains isolating Pakistan on the issue of terrorism in the SAARC group. Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has been making efforts to ensure Pakistan is able to hold the summit or is at least not isolated from the group.
