Does Trump’s H-1B proposals spell end of the American dream for Indians?
Updated on Jan 05, 2018 09:06 pm IST
Donald Trump's two new proposals on H-1B visas directly affects Indians in US. The first proposal is to do away with the provision that allows the spouses of H-1B visa holders who are on H-4 visas and waiting for their green cards to work in America. The latest proposal is to give American officials from the homeland security department more powers to deny extension of H-1B visas to those waiting for their green cards. Currently, people would get almost indefinite extensions if they have been accepted for green cards. With the proposed changes people will no longer get extensions and will have to come back to India.
