Gunman who opened fire at New York church shot dead

Gunman opened fire from the steps of New York City's Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. The incident took place just after an outdoor choir performance at the church on Sunday. New York City Police informed that the gunman was soon shot at by them. Police added that the suspect was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. New York City Police later informed that the unidentified gunman had died. Shooting occurred outside the landmark cathedral for the Episcopal Diocese of New York. The Cathedral Church is located at Amsterdam Avenue and West 112th Street. The outdoor choir performance on the church steps drew an audience of about 200 people. The choir's annual Christmas holiday concert had been moved outside in view of Covid-19. Police said they seized 2 firearms from site of shooting which lasted for several minutes.
