In a first, China’s spacecraft lands on the darker side of moon
Updated on Jan 03, 2019 03:01 pm IST
China's Chang'e-4 probe successfully touched down on the far side of the moon on Thursday. It revealed the mysterious side of the moon which never faces the earth. This is the first ever soft-landing on this uncharted area. The probe, which includes a lander and a rover, touched down at a preselected landing area. The probe's task includes astronomical observation, surveying the moon's terrain and mineral composition. It also aims to measure the neutron radiation to study the environment on the far side of the moon.
