Israel threatened to retaliate after Turkey imposed a trade embargo on exports to Tel Aviv on April 9. Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz criticised Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, saying "Israel will adopt similar steps against Turkey that will harm its economy." The Israeli foreign ministry said in a statement that "Israel is now preparing an expanded list of products it intends to stop importing from Turkey, including construction materials like steel and cement." Turkish trade restrictions, which come into force on Tuesday, follow Israel's rejection of Ankara's request to take part in an aid air-drop operation into Gaza. Watch INTERNATIONAL NEWS
