  • Kabul's airport reopened early on Tuesday after being closed for hours by US forces. It was shut after breakdown in security on the tarmac that interrupted evacuation ops. A US general informed in a press briefing that the airport reopened at 1935 GMT on Monday. Major General Hank Taylor said a C-17 transport aircraft had landed with US Marines aboard. Taylor said a second one with the army was to land soon to help establish security for the airport. At least 10 people were killed & several were injured at Kabul airport in the last two days. Thousands were seen trying to catch flights in an attempt to flee Afghanistan. Chaotic scenes were witnessed at the airport soon after the Taliban captured Kabul. Officials believe that people were misinformed about availability of flights at the airport.
