- North Korea fired a ballistic missile off its east coast for the first time since June, reigniting tension in the region. It came after a U.S aircraft carrier arrived in South Korea to participate in joint drills, and ahead of U.S Vice President Kamala Harris' visit to Seoul. South Korea has called the an 'act of grave provocation' that threatens peace & security of the region. Japan too condemned the missile launch and asked its ships to remain vigilant. Even though UN has prohibited North Korea from ballistic & nuclear weapons test, the hermit nation has dialed up its testing activities to a record pace this year.
