Lawmakers in the Senate of Pakistan were sharply divided over offering prayers for former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf. The members of the Senate hurled allegations against one another for backing dictatorial regimes and violators of the Constitution. Treasury benches of the Senate strongly opposed offering prayers to the former President. Senator Mushtaq Ahmed of the Jamaat-e-Islami, who sits on the opposition side, also rejected prayers for Musharraf calling him a traitor. Sensing that the majority was opposed to it, the Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani decided to skip the prayers in the Senate.
