• The number of sexual assaults in the U.S. military increased by 13% in fiscal year 2021. A U.S. defence report states that one in 10 female sailors experienced unwanted sexual contact. As per the report, across services, 8.4% of women and 1.5% of men experienced unwanted sexual contact in the U.S. military. In January, Joe Biden issued an order making sexual harassment a crime under military law. After that, the U.S Navy has now decided to add 225 prevention workers to stem sexual assault. An alarming rise in such cases comes at a time when all the services in the U.S. are struggling to meet recruiting goals.
