Outrage after leaked documents reveal Beijing’s systematic suppression of Uyghur Muslims. This is the first time image material from inside Uyghur camps have come out in public. Leaked photos show officers restraining hooded and shackled inmates with batons. The documents reveal how shoot-to-kill orders were given to the Xinjiang police and how president Xi Jinping demanded new camps as old ones were getting overcrowded. The files include a 2017 internal speech by Chen Quanguo, a former communist party secretary in Xinjiang, in which he allegedly ordered guards to shoot to kill anyone who tries to escape.
