Pak seeks Russia for oil on deferred payment; Talks underway | Details

Pakistan is reportedly in talks with Russia to import oil on deferred payment basis. Last week, Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif held meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Uzbekistan. If the proposal is accepted by Russia, it will be a landmark development for the cash-strapped Pak economy. It is not clear if Pakistan can, however, accept the offer since a deal with Russia could strain the country's relations with the U.S which has been at the forefront of efforts to 'punish' Russia for its Ukraine operation.
