Putin, Modi, Netanyahu, 42 nations offer help as quake rips Turkey, Syria; Toll crosses 1,800

Over 1800 people have been killed in Turkey and Syria as the biggest earthquake in the century jolted the two countries. A magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit southern Turkey and northern Syria early today and the epicentre was around the city of Gaziantep. It toppled hundreds of buildings and while the search and rescue operation continued, another 7.5-magnitude earthquake hit southeast Turkey. India, Russia and Israel were first of the 45 countries that extended help to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
