Putin’s jet drones force Ukraine’s F-16s into action as Zelensky runs out of cheap answers?

Ukraine has deployed F-16 fighters armed with AIM-9 Sidewinder and AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles against Russian jet-powered drones, President Volodymyr Zelensky said. He acknowledged that firing expensive air-to-air missiles at drones is costly, but said protecting lives can leave no alternative. Zelensky also said he was briefed in Canada on a joint Ukrainian-Canadian project to develop a low-cost missile for countering jet drones. The need is urgent: Reuters reported Russia increased its use of jet-powered drones roughly sixfold over three months during the summer.
