Reporter ‘hit by Taliban at gunpoint’ speaks out as journalists flee Afghanistan

Attacks on journalists continue in Afghanistan and in a latest incident, a reporter working with Tolo News was allegedly thrashed by Taliban insurgents in Kabul while he was performing his professional duties. The journalist Ziar Khan Yaad said he was assaulted by a group of Taliban insurgents without any reason and that his equipment and mobile phone were seized. The Taliban leaders have repeatedly assured journalists working in Afghanistan of safety but the attacks on media personnel continue. Many Afghan journalists who fear for their safety have already fled the country.
