'Russia failing in war aims': Blinken in Kyiv; Zelensky thanks POTUS for support
Published on Apr 25, 2022 05:03 pm IST
Zelensky met U.S. Secy of State Antony Blinken & Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin in Kyiv. The trip by Blinken & Austin was the highest-level American visit since the Russian invasion in Feb. Zelensky said U.S. support is the largest contribution to strengthening Ukraine's defence capabilities. Blinken and Austin announced a total of $713 million in foreign military financing for Ukraine & 15 allied nations. Blinken also said U.S. diplomats returning to Ukraine likely would restaff the consulate in Lviv. The military financing is different from previous U.S. military assistance for Ukraine. It is not a donation of drawn-down U.S. Defense Department stockpiles but rather cash that countries can use to purchase supplies that they might need. Watch the full video for more.
