UK arrests Wikileaks Founder Julian Assange after Ecuador rescinds asylum
Updated on Apr 11, 2019 08:43 pm IST
Wikileaks Founder Julian Assange was arrested by United Kingdom after Ecuador decided to withdraw asylum granted to him in 2012. Assange has been accused of publishing classified military and diplomatic cables via the Wikileaks platform. Ecuador justified its decision, claiming Assange had violated asylum rules by interfering in internal affairs of other states. The UK government said that Assange was not a hero, even as protestors gathered outside the Ecuadorian Embassy to oppose its decision.
