UN rebrands Turkey as 'Turkiye'; Erdogan says move represents Turkish culture

- Turkey will now be known as 'Turkiye' after the United Nations accepted Ankara's request for the name change. This after the Turkish govt led by Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a letter sought to change Turkey's name to 'Turkiye'. Since December last year, Erdogan has been pressing to change the name to better represent Turkish culture and values. The rebranding is done to increase the brand value of the country.
